Derek Wohl is a percussionist from Bergen County, NJ. A graduate of the Ithaca College School of Music, he progressed over the years studying with prestigious percussionists such as Gordon Stout, Valerie Naranjo, Barry Centanni, Thom Hasenpflug, Joe Tompkins, Pius Cheung and Nancy Zeltsman. He is now trained in a wide range of instruments and styles such as jazz drum set, rock, funk, classical snare drum, orchestral timpani, solo marimba, jazz vibraphone and ragtime xylophone music

A performer whose playing has taken him across the globe, Derek has had the pleasure to perform in prestigious venues such as Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center and the Venture Theatre in Nice, France. He has had previous experience performing with Encore Orchestra of NJ, The Riley Theater Company, soloist of IC Marimba Ragtime Band, Montclair State Orchestra and Wind Symphony, Ithaca College Wind Ensemble and Orchestra, Ithaca College Chorus, IC Vocal Jazz, IC Percussion Ensemble, Teaneck Community Band, Section Leader of IC Concert Band under the direction of Mark Fonder, and plenty of solo experiences on a multitude of instruments.
